The average energy intake was 15.6% of energy needs, and the average percentage of energy from protein was 15.7%, from fat was 43.3% and from carbohydrate was 25.8%. The mean age of the whole population was 61.5 years 63.6% of subjects had an amputation level above knee and 36.4% had been amputated for more than 1 year. The study included 22 subjects (71% males). Inclusion criteria were patients on long-term prosthetic treatment and age >/= 18 years. Nutrient analysis was performed using the appropriate United States Department of Agriculture Nutrient Analysis System software. In all cases, nutrient intakes were estimated by a 3-day dietary recall and a 7-day food record.
